Krnovsko Micro region
Krnovsko micro region is situated in the northern part of Bruntal district, forming also a north-east jut of Moravskoslezsky County, with specific conditions of this foothill and mountain area. The northern part of the region forms the border with Poland, further on with Jesenik and Opava districts. On the southern side, it borders with an administrating town district – Bruntal.
A historical development of the micro region went in its own ways. First records of the oldest regional village come from 1238 (settlements Bykov – Larysov), on the other hand the youngest village of the micro region is Krasov, established in 1502. The whole Krnov area represents one of the oldest settlements in the Czech Republic, as there are many castles and fortresses, which were later rebuilt to mansions and chateaus. A high number of churches is also typical for this region.
Krnovsko micro region was established as a voluntary corporation and now it consists of 25 local towns and villages.
